I got promoted today to a Lead Artist Position at my company. When I was hired in March, about a week into the job, this position was offered to me unofficially just to see how I do, but today its been finalized in all the departments including financial.

It’s a stressful job, but I enjoy it a lot. I spend half of my day in meetings, troubleshooting technical problems, making decisions about direction of the project, helping and training others and so on. One thing is for sure… it takes more then just technical skills to do this.

Anyhow. It gets me closer to my goal of being an Art Director.
This brings me to a question for you.
What are your goals in life? Short and Long Term ones.

Hey boys and girls. I got a new job. I was a freelancer for a while, but got tired of hustling so I got a full time job in a game company as a 3D artist. Been there for two weeks now. Its one of the Nintendo Developers, but we mostly work on DS games. Wii however is on the menu since it’s the same engine, so maybe in the future I end up working on a Wii title.

I still freelance though... mostly high res modeling, but wouldn’t mind an animation gig.

So as you can imagine, I am a bit busy these days, but still plan to do some fun projects for myself as well.
For starters, I plan to develop another work like "Explicit" , featuring another artist this time.


Then I want to do more with my Cain Character.

And finally I want to get started on a big animation combining both EAST and WEST in one glorious battle.

Yo. What’s up? It’s a New Year and time for a new system.
Entirely new!

I did my research and aiming for something like:

I already got:

4GB of G. Skill DDR2 RAM
APEVIA X-Navigator ATX Full Tower Computer Case
Antec Power Suply Unit 650W
One Samsung 22 inch LCD Monitor



I still need to get:

Core Quad 2.44 MHz CPU
Zelman CPU Fan/Heat sink
GA-P35-DS3L Intel Mother Board (with on board sound)
8800 GT Video Card
500GB SATA Hard Drive
Windows XP 64bit

and one more monitor!



My concerns:

1) I am not sure about the card. 8800GT seem to be the winner, but I hear bad stories about it not working well with Maya. Any feedback about it would be helpful

2) I want to get XP pro 64bit system coz i want to support 4-8GB of RAM, but i been hearing that some applications do not work on 63bit. so what can you guys tell me about it?
